Massie | | | | Sinnoh is based on the geography of the Japanese island of Hokkaido and the southern part of the Russian island of Kunashir. Sinnoh is located north of the Kanto and Johto.

Massie | | Kanto is a large area located east of Johto, north of Hoenn, and south of Sinnoh. Most of the names of the cities in Kanto are the names of colors (Viridian, Lavender, Indigo Plateau, etc.). It is based on and named after the real Kanto region in Japan.

Massie | | Johto, in terms of geography, is much like Kanto. It has a mountain range, and the sea is in the south. It is based off the Kansai region of Japan, and very much alike. The soil of Johto, however, is very rich, used to plant, harvest and grow berries. Also, the smallest of the main regions. Home to cities such as Goldenrod and Blackthorn.

The names of most of the cities in Hoenn are made of two words put together (Little Root, Fort Tree, Slate Port, Ever Grande, etc.) rather than colors as Kanto and Johto have.
